The BFI Committee oversees the full spectrum of the financial services industry in Azerbaijan, including the banking, finance, and insurance sectors. Its mission is to enhance understanding of the Azerbaijani financial system, promote transparency, and contribute to the development of a strong and sustainable financial infrastructure that supports both economic growth and social progress.The Committee focuses on issues that impact American businesses, Azerbaijan–U.S. joint ventures, and the broader financial environment in the country. Through its initiatives, the BFI Committee aims to facilitate dialogue between the private sector and policymakers, fostering an enabling environment for investment and innovation.AmCham’s BFI Committee also works to raise awareness, share expertise, and strengthen cooperation among members by organizing discussions, inviting guest speakers, and engaging with government and regulatory authorities. Acting as an advocacy platform, the Committee strives to represent and promote the collective interests of AmCham members in the banking, finance, and insurance industries.

FMCG

The mission of FMCG Committee is to contribute to the improvement of legislation and legal practice in the areas of commercial and company law, as well as to promote standards of best practice in marketing goods and services. The issues of product safety, consumer protection, advertising etc. are of great public concern, abundant however in grey areas not yet being subject to legal scrutiny.The FMCG Committee is constantly working on the questions below to be addressed:• What are the legal requirements for the product to be marketed?• How to market the product lawfully?• How to abide by law in contacting consumers and competitors when marketing the product?

AI Working Group under IDE Committee

The AI Working Group aims to support the development of Azerbaijan’s artificial intelligence ecosystem by fostering collaboration and promoting responsible AI adoption across the business community.It will serve as a platform connecting AmCham members, government institutions, academia, and international partners to support the country’s AI transformation.The Working Group seeks to raise awareness, share expertise, and advocate for policies that enable innovation while ensuring trust, transparency, and security. Through collaboration, capacity-building, and strategic partnerships with global technology leaders, the Working Group will help improve AI readiness and support sustainable, future-oriented economic growth

AmCham Hosted "Meet Your Candidate" Cocktail Reception

Reflecting on a cherished annual tradition, the AmCham “Meet Your Candidate” Cocktail Reception took place on May 14, 2026. This special event brought together the dynamic AmCham community for an evening of networking and engagement, providing members with the invaluable opportunity to connect with candidates running for vacant seats on the AmCham Board of Directors.Amidst a warm and relaxed atmosphere, attendees had the opportunity to enjoy engaging conversations, listen to the candidates’ speeches, and exchange ideas while networking over cocktails, creating a refreshing and interactive break from their demanding professional routines. Throughout the evening, each valuable candidate — many of whom have actively contributed to the development and initiatives of AmCham Azerbaijan over the years — delivered speeches presenting their professional backgrounds, visions, and priorities for the future of the Chamber.As traditionally held ahead of the Board elections, the reception served as an important platform for fostering open dialogue between candidates and members of the AmCham community. This year, 10 vacant seats are available on the Board of Directors, each carrying significant responsibility in representing and advocating for the interests of the business community. Among the 10 elected Board Members, one member will be elected as the President and Chairman of the Board of Directors. AmCham Human Resources and Labor Committee’s May meeting

On May 14, 2026, the AmCham Human Resources and Labor Committee hosted a workshop titled “Using Behavioral Data for Smarter Talent Decisions.”The workshop featured Ms.Banu Aksoy, Human Resources and Organizational Development Expert and Harrison Assessments Solution Partner based in Türkiye, and Mr. Togrul Alakbarov, Director of the Human Development Center (HDC), Azerbaijan, as guest speakers.The session opened with welcoming remarks from Ms.Shabnam Gurbanova Deputy Chairperson of the AmCham HR and Labor Committee, followed by opening remarks delivered by Mr. Togrul Alakbarov, who shared his perspectives on workforce capability building, professional development, and the importance of strengthening human capital through modern learning approaches. To create a more engaging and welcoming atmosphere, Mr. Alakbarov also conducted an interactive ice-breaking activity that encouraged participants to connect and actively engage with one another from the beginning of the workshop.The workshop continued with a presentation by Ms. Banu Aksoy, who introduced participants to the role of behavioral data and talent analytics in modern Human Resources practices. Drawing on her extensive experience across various industries, she discussed how organizations can utilize behavioral competency frameworks and predictive assessment tools to improve recruitment, leadership development, employee engagement, and workforce planning processes.The meeting provided participants with practical perspectives on integrating behavioral assessment tools into everyday HR processes and organizational decision-making. The speakers shared real-life examples and professional insights on identifying employee strengths, improving team dynamics, and enhancing leadership effectiveness through data-informed approaches to talent management.The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session led jointly by Mr.Togrul Alakbarov and Ms.Banu Aksoy, during which participants had the opportunity to exchange views, raise questions, and discuss current trends and challenges related to talent management, organizational development, and the future of Human Resources practices. Drawing on Ms. Aksoy’s extensive professional experience, Mr. Alakbarov guided the discussion through a series of insightful and practical questions that reflected the interests and concerns of the audience, making the session highly engaging and dynamic for all attendees.

AmCham Marketing, Communications, and Business Development (MCBD) Committee’s May Meeting

On May 13, 2026, the AmCham Marketing, Communications, and Business Development (MCBD) Committee hosted a May workshop titled ““Communications and Public Affairs in Azerbaijan and Beyond.”The keynote session featured Ms.Aytaj Mukhtarzade, Group Public Affairs and Communications Director at PASHA Holding, as the guest speaker.The session opened with welcoming remarks from Ms.Aysel Suleymanova, Chairperson of the MCBD Committee. During her remarks, she provided a brief overview of the Committee’s action plan and encouraged members to actively contribute by sharing their proposals and concerns for the preparation of position papers on relevant topics.The workshop continued with a keynote session delivered by Ms.Aytaj Mukhtarzade, who provided participants with insights into the evolving communications and public affairs landscape in Azerbaijan. Her presentation addressed key industry challenges, strategic media engagement, and the growing importance of effective stakeholder relations in today’s business environment.The discussion also focused on the role of value-driven communication strategies, emphasizing how stronger cooperation between corporates, media, and academia can contribute to closing the talent gap in the communications sector. Particular attention was given to the importance of talent development, sustainable reputation management, and long-term organizational impact.The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session, during which members had the opportunity to raise questions, share their perspectives, and address key concerns related to communications, media engagement, and the future development of the industry in Azerbaijan.

AmCham Legal & Compliance Committee’s May Meeting

On May 12, 2026, the AmCham Legal & Compliance Committee held a meeting titled “Resolution and Prevention of Business-Related Disputes.”The event brought together legal experts from both the public and private sectors, compliance professionals, committee members, and representatives of the leading business community to discuss key challenges related to commercial dispute resolution in Azerbaijan, judicial practice, and preventive compliance measures for businesses.Opening remarks were delivered by Mr. Kamil Valiyev, Board Member of AmCham Azerbaijan, who welcomed participants to the meeting and highlighted the importance of fostering dialogue between the business and legal communities.The meeting continued with welcoming remarks by Ms. Bahar Kavuzova, Chairperson of the AmCham Legal & Compliance Committee, who emphasized the importance of strengthening legal awareness, improving dispute resolution practices, and promoting a proactive compliance culture within the business community.The meeting was held in an interactive discussion format moderated by Ms. Bahar Kavuzova, who guided the conversation through a series of questions addressed to the invited speakers. The discussion covered various aspects of commercial disputes, judicial practice, and compliance measures in Azerbaijan.Ms. Nazli Ahmadova shared insights on the general overview of commercial disputes in Azerbaijan, focusing on key issues identified by the Business Law Committee of the Azerbaijani Bar Association. She also reflected on ongoing discussions with courts and relevant stakeholders regarding practical challenges and recent developments in dispute resolution practices. During her remarks, Ms. Ahmadova highlighted existing gaps within both substantive and procedural legal frameworks and also drew attention to AmCham’s contributions to the regulatory environment, including recommendations reflected in the AmCham White Paper.Mr. Fuad Gashamov discussed commercial disputes from a consulting and law firm perspective, emphasizing the importance of aligning client expectations with judicial realities. Drawing on his experience in complex cross-border disputes, he shared practical observations on legal strategy, dispute management, and communication between clients and legal advisors. He also provided a comparative overview of B-READY statistics, noting cases where inconsistencies between the existing regulatory framework and practical implementation create challenges for businesses and hinder the formation of a predictable business environment.Mr. Dunyamin Novruzov addressed the regulatory framework governing commercial litigation in Azerbaijan, highlighting judicial practice and the professional conduct standards expected from legal practitioners. He also spoke about the importance of legal ethics, procedural transparency, and the evolving role of lawyers in dispute resolution processes.Mr. Allahveran Orujlu discussed compliance measures aimed at preventing business-related disputes, emphasizing the role of effective internal controls, corporate governance mechanisms, and compliance frameworks in minimizing legal risks and strengthening organizational resilience. He also underlined the importance of risk management and preventive measures, supported by practical real-life examples.The discussion was followed by an engaging Q&A session, during which participants actively exchanged views on the practical challenges businesses face in commercial disputes, the role of compliance in dispute prevention, and opportunities to improve cooperation between the business community and legal institutions.The meeting concluded with an interactive discussion among participants, providing valuable insights into current legal and compliance trends and reinforcing the importance of preventive approaches in managing business-related disputes. As a result of the meeting, it was agreed that the ideas and proposals voiced during the discussion will be consolidated into a written package of recommendations within the framework of AmCham, with the participation of representatives from both state institutions and the private sector.

AmCham Azerbaijan Hosted Its First Annual Risk & Resilience Conference

On May 8, 2026, AmCham Azerbaijan convened its First Annual Risk & Resilience Conference under the theme “From Principles to Proof”,  initiated by the Chamber’s Risk Management Committee. The conference brought together senior government officials, leading representatives of the financial and energy sectors, international experts, and business leaders to discuss emerging risks, institutional resilience, and strategic approaches to risk management in Azerbaijan’s rapidly evolving business environment. The successful organization of the conference was made possible through the valued support of NEQSOL Holding and Yelo Bank.Opening the conference, Mr. Dayanat Sadullayev, President of AmCham Azerbaijan, welcomed participants and emphasized the growing importance of resilience, adaptability, and strategic foresight in today’s increasingly complex global environment. He noted that risk management is no longer viewed solely as a compliance function, but rather as a critical pillar of sustainable growth, institutional stability, and long-term competitiveness. Mr. Sadullayev also highlighted the importance of strengthening dialogue between the public and private sectors to collectively address evolving regional and global challenges.The conference continued with a keynote speech delivered by Mr. Zaur Fatizadeh, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Financial Monitoring Service of Azerbaijan, who addressed the importance of strengthening institutional resilience, enhancing compliance culture, and adapting financial and corporate systems to emerging risks in an increasingly digitalized and interconnected global economy.The conference also featured opening remarks by Mr. Samir Karimov, Chairperson of the AmCham Risk Management Committee, who highlighted the growing importance of effective risk management and institutional resilience in today’s rapidly changing business environment. He emphasized the role of cross-sector collaboration, forward-looking governance, and proactive strategic planning in addressing emerging challenges and strengthening long-term organizational sustainability.The first panel session, “Risk Landscape in Azerbaijan: Challenges and Strategic Responses,” was moderated by Ms. Gamar Gadimli, Deputy Chairperson of AmCham Risk Management Committee. The panel featured valuable insights from distinguished industry leaders and experts, including Mr. Zaur Gurbanov, Vice President of SOCAR; Mr. Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli, bp Vice President for the Caspian Region, Communications & External Affairs; Ms. Naila Mehrabova, Advisor to the Board on Strategy and Business Development/Supervisory Board Member, Azersun Holding; Mr. Rajeev Dutt, Managing Director of Swiss GRC; and Mr. Tural Hajiyev, Partner of the Technology & Transformation Department at Deloitte.The panel discussions focused on the evolving non-financial risk landscape in Azerbaijan, including operational resilience, ESG considerations, cybersecurity, supply chain challenges, technological transformation, and data security risks. Speakers exchanged views on strengthening resilience frameworks, proactive risk management approaches, and adapting to rapidly changing global and regional dynamics. The discussion also highlighted the growing importance of digitalization, integrated governance, and cross-sector collaboration in building more adaptive and resilient business models.The second panel session, “Managing Risks in Financial Institutions,” was moderated by Ms. Gultakin Kamranova, Deputy Chairperson of AmCham Risk Management Committee. The discussion brought together senior representatives from leading financial institutions and regulatory bodies, including Mr. Rauf Namazov, Head of the Office of the Financial Monitoring Service of Azerbaijan; Mr. Javid Mirzayev, CEO of Bir Fintech; Mr. Onur Faydacı, General Manager for Türkiye and Azerbaijan at Mastercard; Ms. Gunay Jalilova, Deputy CEO of Yelo Bank and Utku Öz, Partner at Artur D. Little. The discussion focused on systemic risks in financial sector, the growing complexity of financial technologies, financial crime prevention, compliance culture, and the evolving role of risk management as a strategic business function. Particular attention was devoted to the impact of artificial intelligence, digital financial services, real-time payments, and cross-border operations on modern financial risk management frameworks. AmCham Azerbaijan and AFSA hold High-Level Meeting to Discuss Cooperation Opportunities

On April 20, 2026, a high-level meeting was held between the delegation of AmCham Azerbaijan and the Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (AFSA). The meeting focused on discussing state support mechanisms in the food sector, as well as ongoing reforms aimed at improving the business environment.The meeting brought together the AmCham Azerbaijan delegation, led by Executive Director Zaur Karimov, along with Deputy Chairperson of AFSA Zakiyya Mustafayeva, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Food Safety Institute Ali Nabiyev, and other relevant representatives of both institutions.During the discussions, AFSA provided a detailed overview of the systematic approaches implemented in the field of food safety, along with recent developments and innovations. Particular emphasis was placed on efforts to simplify procedures for entrepreneurs, expand access to services, and ensure the continuity of processes.It was noted that, as a result of digitalization, the efficiency of import and export operations has increased, enabling entrepreneurs to obtain permits more quickly and conveniently. Improvements in the quality and speed of laboratory services were also highlighted as having a positive impact on business activities. The parties also discussed opportunities to expand access of locally produced goods to international markets. It was noted that Azerbaijan currently exports food products to more than 70 countries.AmCham Azerbaijan representatives highlighted practical issues faced by member companies and sector-specific challenges, emphasizing the importance of further strengthening public-private dialogue.As a result of the discussions, the parties noted the importance of enhancing coordination between AFSA and AmCham Azerbaijan regarding planned changes and improvements to the regulatory framework in the food sector. On April 17, 2026, AmCham Azerbaijan held its April Members’ Luncheon, bringing together a distinguished audience that included Ms. Amy Carlon, Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan, alongside members of a U.S. trade delegation. The event served as a platform to further reinforce economic cooperation between the United States and Azerbaijan and to explore new opportunities for business engagement.The luncheon commenced with opening remarks by AmCham Azerbaijan’s Executive Director, Mr. Zaur Karimov, who welcomed guests and shared updates on the Chamber’s ongoing initiatives and upcoming activities. AmCham Azerbaijan Hosted Exclusive Project Management Workshop in Collaboration with PMO.az

On April 14, 2026, the American Chamber of Commerce in Azerbaijan (AmCham Azerbaijan), in collaboration with PMO.az, successfully organized an exclusive, members-only workshop aimed at enhancing project management capabilities through an innovative and highly interactive format.The workshop, built around the internationally recognized “Sea Wolf” business simulation, provided participants with a unique opportunity to experience project management in action. Moving beyond traditional training formats, the session offered a hands-on masterclass where attendees engaged in real-time decision-making, teamwork, and strategy development under simulated business conditions.The workshop was led by Mr. Rashad Ibrahimov (MBA, EMPM, IPMA-A, PMO-CP, GPM-b), Founder of PMO.az, who brought global best practices together with an engaging, hands-on approach. Through the “Sea Wolf” business game, participants navigated complex project challenges, managed risks, and made strategic decisions reflective of real-world business environments.Participants had the opportunity to apply internationally recognized IPMA ICB4 standards in practice, work through real-life project scenarios across the full project lifecycle, and strengthen critical leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
